Posted May 2, 2019. Neighbor has a 656 gas hydro that was gotten almost new or new and was used for the spreader tractor up until around 10 years ago. The hydro made it nice to spread even, gas started easy in the cold weather. Hydro was weak and he swapped out the transmission for a gear.Guards: make sure they are not worn out (square cutting edge, slot not worn way open) Holddowns: bend them to keep the sickle snug to the guard, but not tight. Wearplates: If they are worn off, the sickle rides back in the guard and does not cut as well. Also wears out the sickle bar.My collection of Red Power Mag starts with Sept 1999 to present. Two sensors under the floor plate on top of transmission, one for even and one for odd gears. Switch the two sensors and see if the problem moves to the odd gears. If so then change the sensor. We use a CIH 1300 w 9' bar to mow drainage ditch banks. Jan 15, 2024 · There have been incidents of the block heater cords shorting and causing a fire with disastrous results taking out the whole shed full of equipment. So check those cords. Have burnt several cords the last 50 years, but never more than the cord. Been lucky i guess, see the burnt cord right up to a grease covered block. Make sure you are running case IH Low Ash 30 w oil in your motor and try running better fuel not 87 octane farm gas . If your tractor don't get used a lot I would recomend using aviation /race fuel 100 octane or 110 . This fuel has 10 shelf life and is low lead , you can do a test if you want . The reason the cummins will smoke had to do with compression ratio and timing. Most cummins run 14 or 14.5 to 1 compression. Fleet engines worried about idle would raise it to 15 or so but the more power the compression goes down. A power stroke or a 466 will run 17.1 or more making less smoke.General Chat.
